China is one of the four earliest civilizations nations in the world with Yellow River and Yangtze River as its base and cradles. Currently, China is governed by the Communist Party of China (founded in 1921), it has 22 provinces, five autonomous regions, four direct-controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing) and two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau. Since the economic reform took place in 1978, China has emerged on the international stage as a fast-growing power house in Southeast Asia. Mount Everest, with its highest peak in the height of 29,035 feet (8848 meters) in the world, stands on the edge of western China quietly. Some one prefer to call it “Chomolangma” or “ Qomolangma” which means “Mother Goddess of the Earth” in Tibetan language.

BEIJING The Capital and Cultural Centre of China

Beijing, also called Peking, is the capital of China, the political center of China, the cultural center of China, as well as the key transportation hub of the world. Founded during 700 B.C. Its Great Wall, splendid palaces, beautiful gardens, old temples, a considerable variety of exhibitions and museums and former residences of celebrities show its glorious history and civilization. The most famous scenic spots are Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Badaling Great Wall, Beihai Park, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Fragrant Hill, Shidu Scenic Spot, Relics of Primitive at Zhoukoudian, Longqing Gorge, Big Bell Temple, White Dragon Pond, Ming Tombs, Lugou Bridge, Mutianyu Great Wall and Grand View Garden.

SHANGHAI The Largest City and Financial Center

Shanghai is the largest city in mainland China and one of the four central municipalities. It is the economic, financial, trade and shipping center of mainland China. Shanghai has been described as the “showpiece” of the booming economy of China. Featuring several architecture styles such as Art Deco and shikumen, the city is renowned for its Lujiazui skyline, museums and historic buildings—including the City God Temple, You Garden, the China Pavilion and buildings along the Bund. Shanghai is also known for its sugary cuisine, distinctive dialect and vibrant international flair. Every year, the city hosts numerous national and international events, including Shanghai Fashion Week, the Chinese Grand Prix and ChinaJoy.

XIAN Home of the Terracotta Warriors

Xi’an is a large city and capital of Shaanxi Province in central China. Once known as Chang’an (Eternal Peace), it marks the Silk Road’s eastern end and was home to the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties’ ruling houses. At archaeological sites in Xi’an’s surrounding plains are the famed Bingmayong (Terra Cotta Army), thousands of life-size, hand-molded figures buried with China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang.
Terracotta Warriors – one of the eight wonders in modern world, is a door for people to get back to the Tang Dynasty.
Xian City Wall – is the relics preserved since Tang Dynasty. In ancient time, each city of China built city wall to protect the city away from invasion.

WUHAN The Capital of Thousand Lakes

Wuhan, the sprawling capital of Central China’s Hubei province, is a commercial center divided by the Yangtze and Han rivers. The city contains many lakes and parks, including picturesque East Lake, the largest or the second largest urban lake in China.
Yellow Crane Tower is a traditional Chinese tower located in Wuhan, built in 1981, but the tower has existed in various forms from as early as AD 223. Hubei Provincial Museum has a collection of over 200,000 objects, including the Sword of Goujian, an ancient set of bronze bells and extensive artifacts from the Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng and the tombs at Baoshan.

GUANGZHOU A Prosperous and Liberal City near Hong Kong

Guangzhou is a sprawling port city northwest of Hong Kong on the Pearl River. The city features avant-garde architecture such as Guangzhou Opera House; the carved box-shaped Guangdong Museum; and the iconic Canton TV Tower skyscraper, resembling a thin hourglass.
Considered the birthplace of dim sum, Guangzhou has a thriving food scene. Its markets specialize in wares ranging from eyeglasses to electronics. In modern commerce, Guangzhou is best known for its annual Canton Fair, the oldest and largest trade fair in China. There are many malls and shopping centers in Guangzhou. The majority of the new malls are located in the Tianhe district.

CHENGDU Hometown of Giant Panda

Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, has been recognized as “an important central city in Southwest China” by the State Council since 1999. Its civilization of over 3,000 years left Chengdu with various cultural heritage. Chengdu is one of the first 24 famous historical and cultural cities in China rated by the State Council and awarded the Best Tourism City in China by World Tourism Organization. Besides the renowned scenic spots inside the city, Chinese giant panda is a world’s superstar because of its lovely behaviors. Chengdu is a transportation hub for travelers who plan to Mt. Emei and LeShan Giant Buddha, and to Jiuzhaigou Valley and Huanglong national Park.

CHONGQING Three Dimensional City with Breathtaking Landscape

Chongqing is the largest municipality in Southwest China, with more than 30 million people. Known as the Mountain City, it has maintained rapid economic growth and development, while still preserving its natural environments. Chongqing boasts bumpy terrains, a wealth of water reserves, mineral resources, and dense forests. Founded in what used to be the ancient kingdom of Ba. Chongqing is renowned for its Bayu culture, which is still prominently displayed in various parts of the city today. There are many famous tourist attractions in Chongqing. Such as the Monument to the people’s Liberation, Chaotianmen, Hongya cave, Three gorges, Dazu Rock Carvings.

MACAU Las Vegas of Asia

Macau is an autonomous region on the south coast of China, across the Pearl River Delta from Hong Kong. Its giant casinos and malls on the Cotai Strip, which joins the island of Taipa and Coloane, have earned it the nickname, “Las Vegas of Asia”. One of its most striking landmarks is the tall Macau Tower, with sweeping city views. Macau’s Historic Centre has narrow alleyways, colorful colonial homes and grand Senado Square. Up a steep staircase, the Ruins of St. Paul’s encompass the baroque facade of a 17th-century church.

HONG KONG Vibrant City and Shopping Paradise

Hong Kong has been a crossroads of the world since the 19th century. Originally a small fishing village, Hong Kong today is one of the most international metropolises in the world. As a city well-blended the oriental and western culture, Hong kong is not only a bustling commercial city, but also a shopping paradise and gourmet paradise. English remains an official language in Hong Kong and the visa free policies for many nationals (Armenian passport holders can stay up to 30 days) here had made it always being a popular destination worldwide. The best time to visit HK is from September to January.
